sometimes you can’t actually do anything to help those you care about. maybe they don’t want your help or they’re beyond it or oblivious, maybe it’s not really your problem to solve despite your good intentions. if you’re a chronic people pleaser it’s tough to adopt this mindset but in the end it’ll be a relief to remember those boundaries and preserve yourself/sanity. sometimes it really is just “the thought” that counts

Film Forum is the OG but Metrograph is younger and hungrier, with a more diverse slate of films and an emphasis on rediscovered or neglected classics. Great atmosphere too, with a restaurant and bookstore. you can’t go wrong!
