Concentrate on accounts you follow, and expect to run out of things to look at. Avoid “for you” and “suggested posts/videos” - when you’re out of Following posts, you’re done :) People have said the internet is full of horrors, and I know that’s true, but I haven’t experienced it. That’s not to brag, just to show it’s possible! And I have spent my time on Tumblr, Reddit, pre-Musk Twitter, YouTube, instagram. Link goes to a post with specific advice for IG and YouTube. I don’t think Twitter can be used this way anymore, and you will have junk shoved into your feed no matter what. Maybe start fresh with new accounts to reset everything, too

your close friends (or anyone who brings light and encourages you to authentically be yourself) are the only people you need. i promise. instagram is so so so evil when you’re constantly stressing about impressing people or tailoring your internet prescence to look cooler. as someone who has been chronically online for > 10 years it is SO REFRESHING to just hit restart and have 20 people following you. Like …. make that finsta your main! tell people you “don’t really use instagram” unless you genuinely want them to see you! it’s sooo freeing and fun to not have a social media presence you care abt

Hone in on your personal style! Find out what makes you feel the most like you and what styles you gravitate to. What styles make you feel the most confident! It doesn't matter if it's something you have never worn before yet! A great source is Allison Bornstein on both TikTok and her book. her whole thing is choosing 3 words to hone in on your style, and it's really, really helpful! Also delete social media! You can create a new one later, but deleting social media will release you from any of your past connections (that might not even be worth holding on to), and get you to know yourself better! It's nice to spend time away from it, but when you do go back, you can show up as the person you want to be and find new local favorites in the new place! xx
