I'M reading this play about the exploitative/weird relationship between Basquiat and Warhol.
I started to think about how Jay-Z goes to such lengths to embody Basquiat and I wonder - for what? Does he see himself as a replica or reincarnation? Jay-Z is a single-minded capitalist in such a way that it begs the question - is he buying/collecting to horde or consume or become or all three?
I think it's just cosplay to make him, Shawn Carter (a person who has to wake up and go to sleep and have thoughts in between) feel less evil for being a billionaire.
