GAP 90’s Carpenter shorts — new creative direction at GAP is crushing it, especially with their throwbacks. Loose + right at the knee + zero stretch gives authentic carpenter dad vibes.
Cookman Chef Shorts — The Bear really did make chef-core cool. Cookman makes utilitarian clothing that performs well but doesn’t make you look like a nerd. The drawstring waistband gives you some comfort for biking too.
Gramicci Shell G-Short — lightweight and durable, these are comfortable for all day wear in the city or a long hike. The cinched belt makes adjustments super easy. Friends have said they’re super easy to clean too (strange selling point but sure).

I like my Patagonia Baggies™ like anyone, but they can only go so far. These shorts feel like a more complete and universal item. I know I know, you don’t believe in shorts, that’s great for you. I do, and these are why. Also, in certain situations, shorts with an Oxford can look more put together than with pants if done right. These are great because they are proper shorts and also double as swim trunks so you can travel with less stuff or be a “fun, spontaneous person” if the mood strikes. Outlier are fabric freaks so I trust them pretty explicitly and their photos and experiments are fun to keep up with.

comfy, lightweight, can double as swim trunks, got a lil elastic loop in the right pocket to clip your keys on. my summer shorts rotation is just this in different colors

I feel like there’s a special connectivity on this app that I haven ’t felt in a long time, maybe since early 2010’s tumblr. The fact that you can’t promote yourself like IG is wonderful. The fact that there isn’t mass video content like Tik Tok is great. It’s not this monetized / paid sponsorship app. People are here because they want to be a part of something with nothing to gain besides friendship. Seeing the URL -> IRL meetups warms my heart so much (waiting for an NYC or Brooklyn meetup).
Thanks for your participation on this niche little app. I smile reading all the recs and all the comments and all the asks. Hope we’ll all be here for a long time.

I think a life rule for me is to surround myself with people who know more / are smarter / are cooler than me and just absorb their aura by listening / observing them. It’s made me the incredibly smart / cool person you all know and love.
I just never thought I’d feel the same way about URL friends. I’m constantly listening to the songs I see posted here, reading the articles, subbing to newsletters, and googling topics that get tossed onto the feed.
It’s nice to know you can become a more rounded person by just absorbing what your mutuals post on here. I’m going to sit on my couch, have a cocktail and digest my lovely feed. Happy Sunday!
