turn ur mini dresses into skirts! turn ur maxi dress into tops! pin your clothes! wear them the ‘wrong‘ way! clothing has no solid rules and experimenting with how they can be worn will scratch that lil itch you have when you feel like you have NOTHING. you’ll get way more use out of your closet!! currently wearing a maxi dress folded up into a top, ive also turn into into a mini dress and maxi skirt- why buy more when I have a solid piece that can turn into 4 different silhouettes and all it takes is a lil shifting and possibly a pin or two

idk if you do this already BUT get yourself a sewing machine off of FB market for cheap, spend 2-3 hours on YouTube, and it now opens up a WORLD OF POSSIBILITIES.

persephones I'm in a similar spot! Just waiting to finish my office space and start making things again. It's fun to repurpose things, or even better take things apart to remake them hahaha

marianoleonczik how do we get this mindset to the influencers, we need to make repurposing and reworking the next micro trend

persephones UNFORTUNATELY influencers are married to ads and campaigns, which is to say capitalism. I doubt they'll ever do it or do it well. I know Bode did great at repurposing things but then you see the price points and it's...daunting. For something to not be monetized or bastardized by capitalism, it can't be shared with the influencers, they'll make it into a machine. I think it's our job to push it and also teach others how to do it. I'd love to be able to sell a course on how to sow to make $...but...maybe we have an obligation to push repurposing forwards by offering lessons for free!? I'm about to run a Zoom class where it's a free workshop to get people into sewing. LET'S COLEAD A ZOOM!!!

marianoleonczik Capitalism has us so cooked- I wish we could go back 2/3 decades to when brands used to at least sell patterns of their items for the general public.. now it feels like our only choice is having temu brain worms….. let me level up and I would LOVE to do a repurposing zoom university- the public needs this!! literally one of my goals for the future community center!!!

Last time I reco’ed Big Dress Energy—I still stand by this, but have some tweaks. Two Dress, Three Shirt is the ratio I’m following now, layering a slip dress or petticoat dress under a sheer dress for a more undone look, or if I’m wearing a skirt, the top layers go tee, overshirt, jacket. Thinner layers and less poufy—still very magpie, maybe a little more grungy. Lynn Yaeger is the poster child of 2Dress3Shirt.
