Obviously, you can soup this up to be beautiful, but it's quickly become my go-to struggle meal. I'm talkin' blue box mac 'n cheese and then adding a can of cheap chili (with beans) to the pot with a little extra seasoning in there. Yeah, it looks like dog food, but what – you wanna starve or somethin'?

BEANS. Beannnsth. Made my (dare I say) best ever batch of chili today for tyler and I for dinner πŸ₯Ή There’s something so comforting about a giant bowl of chili with shredded white cheddar cheese and sour cream on top. Making cornbread next time for sure 🀀

Rapid fire of things I love for high protein, cheap and easy: - Lentil sloppy joes. Essentially just put water seasoning and lentils into a pot. - Spicy Chili Mac (white people supreme): tofu, kidney beans, tomato and pasta. Pretty low effort, sounds weird but I love it. - Chickpea paprikash- simple and honestly fire: Chickpeas in a warm spicy tomato sauce with pasta (I sub the sour cream for greek yogurt) -Fried rice with eggs and edamame - Black bean quesadillas -Black bean bowl (rice, black beans, salsa, corn, mango if you feel fancy) -Blended tofu/beans into soups/pastas (sounds weird but it helps add protein/thicken it up) - Canned tuna

Pretty simple and the secret is... Butternut squash. Cook down your aromatics (onions, garlic, and your favorite peppers) with a good vegan chorizo. Cut some butternut squash into cubes and boil them. When they're done mash them up like mashed potatoes. Mix your aromatics and vegan chorizo with a canned bean medley into a slow cooker with veggie broth. Then mix your mashed up butternut squash into the chili broth and it will turn the broth thick and creamy. I like to add a ton of tapatio hot sauce, too. So good.

With the recent passing of David Lynch, I felt it necessary to explore his works in totality in tribute to the loss of a brilliant artist. This is a journey that I have not yet completed, but it has been a tremendous self-actualizing experience. I am not alone in this journey. Last week, I watched Blue Velvet for the first time. Not long after I finished the film, analysis videos appeared on my Tiktok feed. It was a fine video and a sound analysis of the film, but not long after I felt as though I had been mentally visited by David Lynch's ghost; shaking his head in disappointment at me. For many years I had been happy to listen to reviews, video essays, other people's analyses, etc., sometimes even before coming to my own conclusions about them. I think the point of David Lynch's works β€” and indeed art, media, etc., broadly β€” is to keep asking questions about them. The second you come to a conclusion at all, you stop thinking about the work, and that magic of exploration is lost. David Lynch believed that within every human being is a vast ocean of consciousness, a creative force within us all or β€” in a word β€” magic. When you sit, think, ask questions, and catch your own unique ideas, this is a scrap of magic from that creative ocean within you. It's what makes you human. So please, put down your phone and log off of your computer a while. Go to a museum and stare at a painting that catches your fancy for a long, long time. Watch a weird artsy film and then take a walk in a park and argue with yourself. And never stop doing that. You are beautiful and capable of making ideas that no one else has had before. And that is magical and should be celebrated. Thank you for reading this kind of rambling post. I hope you have a nice evening. RIP David Lynch.
