Shoegaze band with two vocalists with contrasting vocals, hard hitting guitars and elements of other genres like emo, country, slowcore to make something that is similar whats going on elsewhere in music but still unique.

My friend Aaron put me onto Badvril, the best band presently crawling out of San Francisco—the cesspool from whence we all came. And they sound like it, in all the most perfect, sludgy, narcotic, dreamy, total-eclipsing sort of ways. If you like shoegaze, Catherine Wheel, early Pumpkins, '90s alt revival, or melodic punk that pre-dates the Hot Topic era, you will die and go to heaven listening to their I AM GOD EP. that came out in February.
The desirous thing about becoming a fan before there is too much noise is that it's easy to catch up on their back catalogue. And then Becket becomes your Instagram friend and sends you the new unreleased album and it's the best music you've ever heard in your life. One wrong move and they could be too huge to handle. I wish them all the money in the world.

I’m about halfway through it, but so far it’s been really informative and interesting. It’s all about the birth and evolution of the indie music scene in the US, with an emphasis on punk, post punk, noise, emo, and what we would now broadly call “indie rock.” Each chapter is dedicated to a different band, highlighting influential acts like Black Flag, The Minutemen, Minor Threat, Fugazi, and my current hyperfixation: Sonic Youth. Check it out and buckle in for a pretty long and wild ride through the history of indie rock.

The literary equivelant to an Edward Hopper, Hemingway has enraptured readers with his terse yet evocative use of the written word. Each story is a kaleidoscope, his utilization of omission works in a hypnotizing and atmospheric effect. Hemingway moves from Saharan hunts brimming with sun-beating, murderous intensity to Spanish civil wars and cloudy French metropolitans. “The Short Happy Life of Francis Macomber” is one of many stories which have stuck with me, and the book will stick with you after the last word and long after the turn of the final page.
