Dark souls meets Studio Ghibli meets Zelda. Soulslike action adventure with isometric 3D top down animation. Recing again because I just 100%ed another run through and itโ€™s still just the best game. Just one of the best games ever made. The controls are so slick and it feels so good to play. The animation is gorgeous and the story is entertaining without getting in the way of the game play. Itโ€™s challenging without being punishing and the QOL is so high and well thought out that itโ€™s never overly frustrating even when repeating hard bits over and over. Clearly made my people who play games and understand what is needed to make them feel good.

itโ€™s been a minute since i indulged in a good indie game as i have been in my dark souls bag as of late but these were the games i would recommend that i love! MUTAZIONE - DIE GUTE FABRIK (2019) a gorgeous game which follows a girl named Kai on her journey to meet her dying grandfather. set on an island near rio which was struck by an asteroid causing the island to be inhabited by mutants. help their island thrive by working with the surrounding nature and meet everyone! the most beautiful soundtrack of any game iโ€™ve ever played, gorgeous visuals too. if you are looking for a low stakes low maintenance game to chill with then this is the one. there is also a free play mode where you can just make lovely gardens! AFTERPARTY - NIGHT SCHOOL STUDIO (2019) the lesser known cooler younger sister of OXENFREE (which i would also recommend). afterparty follows two recently deceased best friends navigate their way through (and hopefully out) of hell. after some digging they find a loophole to give themselves another chance at life; to out drink the devil. very personalised player experience with multiple different endings, and even your own personal demon criticising you for every decision you make. very good game, can be multiplayer, mostly point and click with a few minigames, more of a work out for the brain! ABZU - GIANT SQUID (2017) this game is a spiritual experience. you, as the player are given a vessel to explore the beauties are ocean has to offer. youโ€™re job is to restore the various species to their rightful habitats. the game is so gorgeous, the soundtrack is amazing and you might learn something about your local marine life! NIGHT IN THE WOODS - SECRET LAB (2017) night in the woods is based in Mai Borowski, a recent college drop outโ€™s, hometown. she seeks to find meaning and stability in her old life which is irreparably different than before. with mystery and emotional depth, many find this game to be the perfect thing to play when youโ€™re feeling lost in life! SPIRITFARER - THUNDER LOTUS GAMES (2020) in spiritfarer you play as stella, a girl with big shoes to fill. stellaโ€™s new job is to be the ferrymaster and escort the across the everdoor and to the afterlife. stella reunites with loved ones and departs from them too, in the mean time accommodating to the spirits whims. gorgeous game that deals with themes of grief but has a lot to do in it! CHEF RPG - PIXEL ARCHITECT (2024) chef rpg made by noah, otherwise known as pixel architect, is an upcoming โ€œstardew valleyโ€ game centering a young chef who flees their life in the big city to white ash harbour to revive a once famous restaurant. the coolest thing about this game is that you can watch the developer make it! on noahโ€™s youtube channel you can watch him create this game piece by piece. im really looking forward to it coming out! COFFEE TALK - TOGE PRODUCTIONS (2020) this game has a special place in my heart. in coffee talk you play as a barista in a coffee shop thatโ€™s only open at night. you spend your time making drinks for regulars and listening to their story develop night after night. the drinks you make have a big impact on the game. thereโ€™s a second game now which i havenโ€™t played yet but this is a super relaxing games which packs a good punch in the emotional department! STRAY - BLUETWELVE STUDIOS (2022) iโ€™m sure youโ€™ve seen this game before. you, a little cat, navigate the ghost of an underground metropolis. the empty and failing city seems a little less lonely when you meet B-12 the friendly drone that assists you in navigating the unknown territory! NOT INDIE: BEYOND TWO SOULS - QUANTIC DREAM (2013) every single time someone says they like life is strange i tell them they have to play this! Jodie is a girl who has had a gift her whole life, what she does with that gift is up to you. with multiple different endings, it can be pretty high stakes. you should def play!!! so sorry this was so long, i hope you enjoy some of these as much i have! xoxo

just finished this beautiful and pleasant game! its bread and butter is its movement system in which you get speed boosts by shooting floating talismans with your bow and arrow (it's quite satisfying). this movement system does such a great job marrying gameplay with storytelling, messaging, and themes. this was clearly intentional and i appreciate/respect that a lot. you explore this pretty open world and solve simple puzzles, with a few boss fights. this is not a challenging game in the slightest once you get the hang of the movement system, and i finished the story and unlocked 40/43 achievements in 12 hours.

or junk journaling, if you'd like to not perpetuate myths about crows liking to collect trinkets. i just think it sounds cuter weirdly, as someone who's a writer, i've never really been good at or liked journaling. every planner i've ever owned has remained empty. if i try to write something any time other than when the fancy strikes me, it just feels inauthentic, like i'm trying too hard. this has been the first time journaling actually felt like it had a purpose for me, and actually felt weirdly therapeutic basically, it's just anything i can recycle, i make into a page. i like a common theme, so places i've visited, media i like, similar aesthetics, emotions i'm feeling. and then we get the qr code page & i'm reminded that this is probably the quintessential depiction of what scoring 121 on the RAADS-R looks like eh, i'm having fun๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ

"Why would you make out of words a cage for your own bird? When it sings so sweet The screaming, heaving fuckery of the world?" the crooner's sophomore outing, finding beauty and hope amidst the end of the world loved unreal unearth, loved the debut. but if you ask me, this is his strongest album. there's something about the imagery invoked in this album that is so specific, but feels so unique to him. that underwater cover art kinda encompasses that; normally when we think of wastelands, its just dry nothingness for miles. but this feels very "noah's ark flood" end of the world. the calm before the storm, the storm, and the aftermath the VOCALS on this thing go apeshit btw this also just has some of my favorite songs of his. MOVEMENT is criminally slept on. shrike is so bittersweet and beautiful. dinner & diatribes and almost (sweet music) are absolute jams. talk...? TALK?!! jesus christ. i can't listen to the title track without weeping. there's such a melancholy that almost makes me sick but it's like...the hug you'd want from a loved one as the world caves in good time๐Ÿ˜ƒ! emotional damage๐Ÿ˜ƒ! have fun๐Ÿ˜ƒ!
