she’s a bit controversial, some of her writing can get bleak or polarizing and doesn’t mesh completely with contemporary writing on gender/sexuality/feminism but I’ve been listening to audiobooks of her work
one of the few social critics that has tried to analyze Joan of Arc as well as Nicole Brown Simpson - admirable

Impossible to pithily summarize the force of this artist (in which any isolated "scream" is merely another register of space across a VERY complex vocalic spectrum), but I like this one-liner from RYM: "The world isn't a pretty place and sometimes people don't want to hear the truth." Also, if you live in NYC and have *read* about the 80s/90s AIDS crisis but aren't sure you can *feel* it, listen to her work.

her voice surprisingly baby-ish for such a woman of power but have you read Source of Self-Regard? find her lectures- she will breath life into you from beyond. In my 🙏❤️❣️

I’ve been thinking about the prevalence of  trans women in electronic music and hyperpop, and as I went down the rabbit hole I found out about Wendy Carlos. She is a pioneer of electronic music and helped design the Moog Synthesizer. I’ve only heard her music from The Shining, but now I want to hear what else she has created.
