💪I’m awful at doing things I’m not immediately good at. But doing the full band tour for my record is forcing me to learn how to play guitar while reciting spoken word poetry. It’s so hard, and I never would have stuck at it if I didn’t basically have to. But it feels SO rewarding now I’ve nearly got it, and it’s gonna be such a great brag once I’ve got it nailed. Challenge yourself! Become good at things you are bad at! I think my next challenge will be chess, because how the fuck do people even do that?

🚮I relate to this heavily. There's lots of reasons why you might be stuck in this loop, but for me, it's because I'm a perfectionist. If you're like me, you have to accept that you're going to be bad at whatever it is you're wanting to do. You're going to suck, and that's a good thing because you can't be good at something unless you get through being bad at it. If you were given Gifted and Talented status as a child, you were probably deprived of this lesson and will need to learn it now. After you've acquired the cheapest and most basic version of whatever materials are needed, make the next item on your to-do list some version "suck at doing the thing".

⭐There's actually nothing wrong with this. If your friends are going to a film screening that seems stupid you should go with them because you get to hang out with your friends. If your friends are signing up for an app that nobody will be using in 3 weeks you should sign up because you get to hang out with your friends. Simple as
