I'm a sucker for a fancy grocery store and this one combines Erewhon-esque vibes with old-school grocer energy. It's been around for over 100 years and the name of the founder has been lost to time! They've got everything: gorgeous produce, prepared foods, sushi, baked goods, amazing frozen yogurt. My grandpa used to bring me here as a kid and it really reminds me of an earlier iteration of NYC, one that still somewhat lives on in the mannerisms of the old folks on the Upper East Side.

🏙Not exactly known for being cheap, but there are lots of great places on the UES, especially if you’re willing to walk east! Things will decrease in price/raise in quality if you cross Lex. We have outposts of two amazing Brooklyn favorites, Lucia Pizza and Regina’s Grocery (impeccable Italian sandwiches, skip the overhyped Milano Market). As I posted the other day, the froyo at Butterfield is out of this world (food is decent as well, if wildly expensive). I’ve only been once, but people like the new Joju (popular place in Flushing) for banh mi. Also not quite on topic and a bit of a walk north but I’d be remiss in not telling you about Earl’s Beer and Cheese, my favorite bar that also has very good food.

i think i'm a little late on this one because it came out near the end of last year, but got a few friends together to see this at a local indie theater. none of us had any idea what we were getting into, and i think that really worked, so i'm not going to share too much beyond saying that it was zany, funny, and shot beautifully.
