Olivier Assayas, 1996.
It's so hard to explain why I love it, but every second of this movie just works. Very unconventionally put together. Very unusual plot structure and it's quite meta. And Maggie Cheung :)
a movie about a fictional attempt to adapt Feuillade’s Les Vampires. 90’s france, Maggie Cheung and Jean-Pierre Léaud, Sonic Youth + Luna. The final “dailies” sequence is beautiful.
Agnes Varda

There is a gasp-inducing shot at least once every minute for the entire runtime. Crazy that this was made almost entirely in a studio, you'd never know it.
