Rec'd on 👟 tips for cleaning white shoes?

maybe not the answer you want to hear, but white sneakers look better when they're a little cooked.
if they're leather, take a damp towel, wipe them down, brush them, dry them, and hit them with a bit of leather conditioner. Do that like twice a year. they'll still age, but they'll age a little better.

unfortunately these aren’t the kind of shoes that benefit from looking worn in :/ they’re not regular lace-up sneakers and they’re mostly mesh so they just look grey and musty when they get dirty lol

0livia oh yeah, those mesh sneakers do not age well. I'd use them as your absolute beaters, wear them when you want to run in the rain or whatever. or just donate them if they really aren't wearable.

Cleaning your shoes

Idk if it’s a cultural thing but I routinely clean my white sneakers. I graduated from a toothbrush to tools that are for shoe cleaning (I gotta shoe cleaning brush with boar hairs or some shit like where they do that at). It gives me peace and unscrambles my mind. Plus I’ve been giving out Unc level advice lately while doing it, it’s like I turn into an old wise master when I got those forces in my hands.

I don't think that's the point

I feel like this place isn't about people but about recommendations, right? forget the influencer, forget the individual, just browse and talk about cool shit and whoever says something good, that's good. that's what I liked about reddit, back when I actually liked reddit.
I haven't found many people I want to follow, and I'm not really looking.

don't settle

for a while, when I wanted something expensive, I would think to myself, "oh, let me just look for a cheaper version of it." I end up settling for something that isn't good in any of the ways that made me want the expensive version.
Throw that out. You can get fantastic pieces for cheap, you can thrift a wardrobe you love, but if you're trying to find a cheap copy of something expensive, it's not going to work.
