my fav place in the city right now. A completely non-alcoholic bar + cafe that also feels unpretentious (idk ive been to some non-alc shops that are just sooo pristine/sterile/stuffy). I thank the surfer vibes for the good atmosphere. 🤙🏻
VERY busy during the weekends, I recommend visiting during the week.
A great cocktail (mocktail?) list, they have thc/cbd and kava drinks as well, plus good food and coffee! They will make you custom drinks.
People are friendly and chatty! I've been so comfortable going there and talking to people ~soberly~ :)

re weather: layers. Ocean beach is foggy. Crop top + sweater. check a week in advance, its been rainy!

jazz and coffee at cafe international, beers at noc noc, martinis at zam zam, horsies market and saloon for cozy wine vibes. bimbo’s and the chapel for shows. doesn’t rly matter what u see, just gorgeous venues. el buen sabor and senor sisig for burritos. city lights and dog-eared for books…public works and make out room for dj sets and dancing. the roxie and alamo drafthouse for movies - kind of fun to order a glass of wine for 1million american dollars!! hike lands end to baker beach or bike golden gate to ocean beach if ur feeling flirty :)))) WEAR LAYERS!

Her videos just keep getting longer and longer! I reference her thoughts in "Opulence" so often that I made my mom watch it (with me) and she sat through the whole 2 hours. Can't believe it came out FOUR years ago. The final chapter regarding our era being a Gothic one (and the decay of malls) is the best part.

Closing up shop early and leaving an "overworked and underpaid" sign on the door

When I was 19-20 I worked on Haight Street at a retro revival/rockabilly dress shop. The company had expanded too fast and blew all their money, so my store was closing and what was usually very expensive clothing was on super sale.
One day I arrived to work and everyone called out except me. My manager told me to run the (large) store all by myself. At some point the landlord for the building showed up to tell me the company hadn't paid rent in months. The store was so busy due to the sale that I couldn't take a break for hours due to the constant stream of people. The landlord decided she wanted to be "helpful" and was taking customers to the stock room to find clothes that weren't on the floor. It was chaos.
When finally there was a moment of the store being empty I locked the door, had a panic attack, and angrily scribbled the "closed early because overworked and underpaid" sign and left.
I was fired haha.
