i typically steer clear of the video essay format unless I find them engaging - most of the time video essays fall flat as much as short form content. Zeeā€™s channel has really changed my mind on this sort of thing She makes videos analyzing pretty much anything within modern society with social media, gender, sexuality, and loneliness/isolation being prevalent themes I do enjoy the declaration of her being ā€œpolitically homelessā€ - she never gets trapped in or entertains or privileges one camp of thinking over the other. sheā€™s very witty and sharp to boot

Currently getting through Dan Olson/Folding Ideaā€™s latest video. All of his stuff is great and thoroughly well researched. Some of my fave videos of his: Tuca & Bertie, Flat Earth, and *his critique* of the Nostalgia Critic's *critique* of The Wall by Pink Floyd - his videos on NFTs and The Metaverse are fantastic too In no particular order, here's some more YouTubers I'm subbed to: (would love to write up a paragraph for each of them but don't want to take up too much space!) The most incredible video essayist - hands down! Unpacking unique and relevant topics in a digestible, fun and entertraining way! Some of my personal faves are: - Hannah Montanas guide to life under Capitalism - overanalysing the barbie movies with queer Marxist theory - Did Feminism Fail Men?
