One could authentically furnish and decorate their entire house with the things people put out on the sidewalk. Today I picked up Martinelli’s, herbal tea, and an ostrich-shaped cookie cutter. Previous highlights include a fully functional stationary bike, a blender, and an Italian leather jacket.

such a little gem in carroll gardens! there’s always a ton of furniture lined out on the street (new pieces all the time!) and the inside is full of knickknacks, clothes, and all sorts of ephemera. i can never walk by without stopping in for a rummage!

Look around on Facebook marketplace, nextdoor, maybe even craigslist
or flea markets/consignment shops/ antique stores/ESTATE SALES/thrift shops. Soooo many unique gorgeous pieces out there. Don’t feel rushed to fill your house up; let things find you over time! Think about the textures, fabrics, materials, and colors you enjoy. Whatever you do, do not and I repeat do not buy idiot reproduction mid-century modern furniture targeted towards millennial yuppies and end up looking like you live in a catalogue it is the most swagless thing you could do…
