Sending your film out and waiting patiently for the moment when the negatives arrive and you get to look through the frames in the daylight. Even then, you aren't really sure what they'll look like when they're scanned in, but it's fun to recall the memories you may have forgotten about if the roll was in the camera for months before that. The final task of scanning isn't always fun, but it can be meditative in itself as you see each image come to life one by one.

damn i don’t even scan my own negatives lol, but yeah shooting on film is an exercise in patience fr. super frustrating to get a roll back and have a couple photos be “wrong” bc by the time you get it back you can’t remember what you did to change it for next time, so it’s just about appreciating what went right and learning to look forward

alaiyo to be honest lately I’ve been having the lab scan them since I’m so short on time. Agreed though, sometimes I get my hopes up about how a shot might come out in my mind versus the final result

Shooting on film even though you don't really know what you're doing

sure your last roll was 4 years ago and it may have gotten sun exposed but this new roll has some neat shots

Wait till you have 3 rolls of film before sending them out

It's almost like edging if I'm being honest like, I'm just sitting on 3 fully shot rolls and I'm gonna get 118 images back, kinda cool, could be the move

PI.FYI FIELD RECORDING COMPILATION, VOL. I

Here it is, folks! Volume I of what could very well be a continuous project. Thank you so much to everyone that submitted - I smiled the entire time I was putting this together. It's best listened to with headphones ☺️ Liner Notes: This collection of field recordings is a collaborative effort with users of PI.FYI, each of which recorded their own pieces. It features audio from all over the world and exhibits eclectic moments from London Underground commutes to cuckoo bird calls in Dhaka to the sounds of a century-old American diner. Online communities like PI.FYI often represent a diverse set of people, places, and experiences, but together, the submissions form a living collage that highlights the commonalities of modern life - a unifying message for such a tumultuous time. The first track features all of the sounds played at once in an attempt to create an audio snapshot of an online community but in their offline lives. The individual recordings are unedited except for minor gain and compression adjustments for consistency across the collection.
