You discover most people have a base understanding of different fantasy lore, and it’s fun to hear someone explain why they would be a gnome warlock or an elven archer, which is a very common one … (thx sexy Legolas). in case you couldn’t guess: I’m a two-handed swordsman demon slayer.

Entirely underrated. The coolest D&D class. Not enough monks out there. Their whole thing is punching and kicking, two of the coolest things you can do. I don’t know why we have so many barbarians but no monks when the only real difference between the two classes is that monks have been to therapy. The monk I play as is named Brother Ken of the Brotherhood of Brotherly Love. He’s awesome. All of your favs are (mechanically) monks. Tifa from Final Fantasy VII? Snow from Final Fantasy XIII? Half of the characters from Street Fighter? Monks! Live out your fist fighting dreams. Roll a monk.

for my first proper campaign, i played as a dwarf cleric named Kirbo!! she was raised in the holy capital and left for reasons i never fully explored (i was busy with work at the time + the campaign ended early so i couldn't establish much of a backstory). but at least in the present time, she wears lots of pink and harasses bartenders for obscene amounts of fish oil juice. i hope to revisit her story again some time. :)

Lovely little old school TTRPG. Captures the feeling of adventure and the perils that come with it super well in a very cute system based on British fairy tales (I am currently playing a Grimalkin which is basically a fey cat/puss in boots/the Cheshire cat). Medium to high lethality, so make sure to bring a backup character!

I absolutely love it. I was lost after college and stumbled ass-backwards into masonry having only done some construction during summer breaks. It’s an old ass building method, and has artistic edge. When someone asks “what would you have done if you lived in Ancient Rome?” I can say I’d be a bricklayer, and that’s a pretty cool feeling.

A great summertime game. The scoring system works in the favor of creating Big Comebacks. I play one point for a bag on the board. Three for one in the hole. 21 points to win the game, and if you don’t get exactly 21 you go back to eleven. Yesterday I played against my roommate, and let me tell you, it was a Scorsese of a game. Almost an hour long and some huge lead changes to boot. Get some beer (put it in a koozie for mystique) and go see what you got!
