I have started telling people I have a romantic view of <fill in the blank (cities, jobs, labor)> and it really does describe what I’m trying to capture

— untangling a necklace with a needle for someone (my dad used to do this for me when I was younger, felt like such a delicate ritual) — sitting on a couch with someone (aka your current crush) and both caressing a cat that’s between you and the other person …a silent ā€žwe’re both here, coexisting, vibingā€ž moment — braiding someone’s hair (the gentle tug, the trust, the rhythm) — tuning a violin or a guitar (recently watched my friend do this and she was so intimate with her instrument, fine-tuning every string, taking her time… it was kinda mesmerizing) — asking someone about their perfume (I noticed you, I want to remember how you smell) — people in busy public places that close their eyes and hold still for a moment just to soak in some precious sunrays Loved this question!

when people ask me about my job iā€˜m often tempted to launch into all of my frustrations, which sometimes i do but sometimes i tell them, ā€œit’s hard work, but i really love what i doā€ and it feels good to say!! i don’t have to self-flagellate for a stranger who just told me that they could ā€œneverā€ do what i do and make myself a martyr i’m being honest but iā€˜m highlighting the best parts of my job instead of highlighting the worst parts—and i find myself a lot happier when i repeat this process for all aspects of my life i love my partner, i love my pets, i love my city, i love my job. there are always things to complain about but there are also always things to celebrate

between others. it’s something i’ve always been good at and take pride in doing in the everyday. i just want to make the proverbial ā€œitā€œ mean something. whether that be small, like recommending a local shop to a friend looking for something. or ā€œbigā€œ, like referring someone to a future partner or job. it can be done with or without words, whether through advice or a simple nudge. i like to bring people together, create communities, or provide jumping off points. without sounding grandiose, i feel like my life’s work is to inspire. i think eventually i’ll settle my jittery hands on a specific craft that acts as a visual language to accomplish this, as i've always been fond of art. but, i don’t think that’s all that’s in store for me, one big grand statement. i think my impact translates into everything i pursue.

Asking for a coffee for here with a real mug, sitting and chilling while you sip - no phones, no computers… (i guess this is what Europeans just do… and we should too)
