First off, Lianne La Havas’ cover is also one of my favorites ever Some standouts (songs that I previously thought were too good to be touched until I heard these): The Fool on the Hill - Sergio Mendes & Brasil ‘66 (The Beatles) I Go To Sleep - Anika (Ray Davies/The Kinks) Tempted - Erykah Badu/James Poyser (Squeeze) Hybrid Moments - Helvetia (Misfits) Perfect - MJ Lendermen/Wednesday (Smashing Pumpkins)

Everytime by Ethel Cain, Super Trouper by The Japanese House, Poses by Madison Cunningham….there are too many to choose one. I made this playlist of my favorite covers a while back. :)

i made a playlist of some heavy hitters. sometimes you can just tell an artist covers a song and you know that it's because, in a different universe, they would have written it themselves. sometimes they take a bad/mediocre song and you realize that it pretty was good all along. sometimes someone will sing a song and you can hear the reverence in their voice and it makes you love the music with them. its incredible really. i like the idea of sharing in the act of creation like that. favs on the playlist are stevie wonder, lianne la havas and michael cera palin

I had to do two, because I also really really really love this cover. I was big into Pop Goes Punk when I was a little emo kid, and this is one of a few covers that I think still sounds good outside of the Pop Goes Punk context.

It’s Friday night and I’m off work late with no plans but I felt like being out in the world, even if for a moment. Turns out, a low stakes glass of orange wine tastes great when you’re waiting for a $10 burrito platter from down the street.

I’ve spent so much time scrolling on this app that I’m able to discern some of your writing voices. There are a couple of you who have such a developed voice that I can guess you wrote a post before seeing the attached username. You’re all so observant, introspective, delusional, earnest, anxious, well-rounded, hilarious and loving. Kind of breaks my heart that I’ll likely never meet some of my favorites because we all live everywhere, but I guess that’s why we thank God for the Internet!
