Situated on Hudson and 11th Street in the West Village since 1880. Used to be more of a longshoremanās bar than a literary hub untilĀ Dylan ThomasĀ and other writers began frequenting it in the early 1950s. Favorite watering hole for Bob Dylan, Jim Morrison, James Baldwin, Norman Mailer, Hunter S. Thompson, Mary Travers of Peter Paul and Mary fame, etc. Maybe a tad touristy now but still very boho and a reminder of the history of the Village.
