I just looked up a picture of Ira Glass despite listening to this American Life for years and now I am so much more eager to listen to him. Always wholesome to put a face to a name.

I laugh out loud and tear up during almost every episode, and there are more than 800. What other piece of media can you say that about? Plus Ira Glass and his iconic vocal fry.

Yes I know I’m recommending the granddaddy of all podcasts but you don’t get to be a legend for no reason. Really fascinating and revealing story about the opioid crisis but told in a way that’s an absolute triumph of storytelling. Still remember where I was when I gasped as the full-circle moment. Ira and the gang still got it.

i’ve never been so struck by the sheer love for knowledge of the staff at this american life quite like this. it’s messy, it’s outdated, they occasionally refer to dawn by her deadname, but there’s a beautiful innocence to it. here is a group of cis men approaching concepts they have ZERO language and understanding of, but they have such an empathetic approach to who is essentially a small town pariah. the language used might be harsh, but the decadent and outrageous and loving portrayal of dawn goes so far to say that to understand one another we really do just need to fucking LISTEN!!!

Some mornings before heading to our office jobs, my neighbor drops by my apartment. I whip up some matcha lattes or other tea concoctions, then we set out to soak up the morning sun while admiring the unique architecture of our neighborhood. Sometimes, we team up to order groceries online and even take turns cooking dinner for each other. Tonight, I'm preparing a vegan bolognese, and last weekend, he gave me some peanut noodles. It's like having a friend on speed dial bahaha

took this picture in japan from my aunt's old apartment. i find it hard take random pictures in the US just because i don't think anything is special around me / i don't want to "waste" film. but when i'm in Japan it's so easy to find the beauty in the everyday environment.. even something as simple as people walking upstairs and a guy biking along a path...
