When I taught my film elective class (intro screenwriting for 7th graders) I started with Toy Story. Obviously Pixar has a tried and true storytelling formula BUT I did have fun emphasizing that Woody’s own failure to lead effectively is really im his undoing. His lack of self-regulation (crashouts) creates all of his problems and it’s only through growth and maturity that his problems are solved.
