the met's not touristy, everybody loves the met. It's not times square, it's not a boat tour of the city, it's not the damn empire state building, it's... it's like Washington Square Park. It attracts tourists, but not too many, and the locals are still the true owners.

Yes there are actual things to do and see but you can also just walk until you can’t feel anything. I visit quite often and walking itself has become the highlight of my trips there. You get to watch the city transform in a way that you miss out on with the subway. I’ve yet to try biking as I don’t have much experience on the road but if you’re confident I’d imagine citi bikes being a fun way to travel too.
If you want an actual location try to go to the Met and Central Park, can easily waste a day just wandering around near there.

Spend an afternoon and get lost in The Met. It's massive. After you can eat a hot dog on the steps and wander around Central Park

So of course if you’ve never been, do the touristy things too like Times Square and the monuments and be unapologetic about it, don’t let anyone judge you for having fun just because you’re a tourist. Also if you do the Empire State Building it tends to be cheaper after sunset, there are no lines, and it’s nice to be up with way fewer people. Oh my gosh and I love the Brooklyn bridge actually, walk the Brooklyn bridge.
For pizza, I posted about it recently but L’Industrie has some great pizza by the slice, they have two locations now. My favorite slice is the fig jam and bacon🤤 For the swifties the newer location is not too far from Cornelia stšŸ’€
In the fidi area there’s a small coffee shop, Simpl, on Nassau. It’s originally a Ukrainian brand so they have a Ukrainian drink called a raf, or they have these amazing strawberry lattes and matchas. The most important part though? GET A CARDAMOM BUN. I became obsessed with them the first time I had one.
Go to the Met. Literally one of my favorite museums, it’s so big and there’s so much to see, there are new exhibits throughout the year.
The Brooklyn botanical garden is pretty and there are plenty of free days throughout the year.
Chinatown!!! I am a huge fan of Chinatown in NYC, so many good food options (I’m very food motivated when I travel if you haven’t noticed lol). There are dim sum places, ice cream, boba, so many things all next door to each other. Honestly, you could also find plenty of cheap souvenirs for people lol.

The man responsible for dozens of Teenage Symphonies to God "Sad songs about happy things" (the first time, as a kid, I can recall the sweet/sour combo of melodies that could make you cry attached to songs about endless, bottomless love) I've long since lost track of how many weddings and funerals I've attended that have featured this song; suffice it to say, "a lot." God only knows what we'd been without him šŸ™šŸ»

Hey tyler hopefully this doesn’t violate some PI.FYI golden rule But after nearly two years of writing, editing and arguing, my book about the EP is coming out in May and can be preordered here:
https://hozacrecords.com/product/aifl/
The book is about the origins, history and cultural impact of the EP since these little objects first started coming out in the 50s. Over 50 of my music biz friends then helped me shape the list and review the top 200 ever released, according to us (ha). For those of you who are into this kind of geekery/snobbery, I can’t wait to hear what you think. A labor of love, as all books are! ā¤ļø
