Was at Indian Ranch in Webster, MA in 2007 with my dad, his sister and her family. We played cards with "FBI's Most Wanted" themed cards we picked up there I think. Lot of over the hill bikers with colostomy bags. Pretty sure the drummer and the bassist were the only original members. "I'm Your Captain/Closer To Home" still goes though.

It's the 30th anniversary of the band's debut, "Diary." They are a jaw-droppingly excellent live band from way back and Jeremy Enigk's voice is on some other planet. Yes you are right, some early Foo Fighters are in this video (Dave basically recruited them to Foos).

If you are a BBQ fan you are going to eat your way through Austin. My favorite part of the whole experience outside of meeting random musicians throughout the week (my weird beer garden conversation with Perry Farrell comes to mind; also, Stubb's used to own a house with no address across the street from the venue that served as a Green Room/safe house for bands who are on their main stage; I wrote about that for Magnet too).

I met Erin (@RIOTGRRRL) and Jake (@SLOWDAZZLE) last year after I started using PI.FYI—we organized a meetup before a Jonathan Richman show and immediately clicked over our shared taste in music and similar sensibilities. We started hanging out a lot and had some great times together. I’ve also gotten to know many of their friends, who are all really cool. Erin and Jake started dating a couple of months after the three of us became friends, but our group chat still pops off. Their friendship has meant a lot to me, especially since moving to NYC in 2023, and I really appreciate having them in my life.
