Grand funk RailRoad

Was at Indian Ranch in Webster, MA in 2007 with my dad, his sister and her family. We played cards with "FBI's Most Wanted" themed cards we picked up there I think. Lot of over the hill bikers with colostomy bags. Pretty sure the drummer and the bassist were the only original members. "I'm Your Captain/Closer To Home" still goes though.

Lashes

Cincinnati's best kept secret, and best band (with a shout-out to Fruit LoOops, a very close runner up) -but Lashes packs so much power into such a small package (drum and base/vocals duo). Link has some tracks, though seeing them live, for the rare times they play out, is a must.

It’s in the basement, where all the fun stuff happens. [addendum, just so happens fortuitously that the very loud LASHES will be playing upstairs, which may create a problem for the ambient side, but it promises to make for an all around interesting evening] Line up is Mark Shafer : inventor of gadgets and music Heal Trapeze: Jordin Goff of the Yugos solo project made for the weird ( fans of they might be giants or cardiacs might like) No Face: Expermentor of abstract some times intense music Ergonomics: Michael Clouse of Heists’ project ivolving improv and getting out of the comfort zone to make some thing unique and musical Miguel Morte Valentine: former sing song writer, . first anglar and no wave guitarist famous and acclaimed band Period Bomb had before he moved on to focus on his current project Honorable Demons. Grow Horns: You all know him and love him. Former child star now a wild star exploring sounds.

Nelson Slater

...passed away this week... R.I.P. He was a fixture of the Cincinnati underground music scene for decades. More famous for the record, Wild Angels, produced by his friend Lou Reed, and infamous for its S&M chic album cover (see link).... I guess I'll never know if he was putting me on when he told me the name of the band he was in w/ Lou Reed, pre-Velvet Underground.... In any case, I couldn't repeat it.
