For my money easily one of the best music videos of the 2000s - supremely underrated. Absolutely epic in feel, poignantly contrasted against the extremely specific and niche setting of a post-industrial small town neighborhood car stereo competition in northern France.
RIP DJ Mehdi the track rips too with an awesome edit by one half of Daft Punk (Bangalter)

mo DJ Falcon & Thomas Bangalter (AKA Together) made this song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kzzJB1oh7qE which sampled this song: https://youtu.be/cbKNICg-REA?si=SVgzbps8lTjnfyeO&t=67 but they didn't want to clear the sample of a major artist. They still played the song in their sets though, and Eric Prydz heard them play it and decided to recreate it. Instead of usinf a sample though, he featured the original artist as a vocalist and recreated the vocals, making it legally a new recording that didn't need to be cleared. He then released it with a horny music video and became a star. TLDR: Eric Prydz leveraged his label clout to steal an unreleased Thomas Bangaler track he heard at a festival

Nobody likes it when a DJ messes up what the beginning of a bar is on a track during a transition: everybody gets confused and doesn't know which beat to follow. Ironically, everyone loves when a track makes room for this to happen on purpose, just like this one does. The vocal goes on and on and on without a beat, and by the time you think you know what you're grooving to, you're taken for a ride when the rest of the arrangement kicks in. I also have a soft spot for jangly filtered guitars and that compressed, plugged-nose sounding bass tone. For more of that disorienting feeling, also try Daft Punk - Prime Time of Your Life (Para One Remix).

Has *almost* never failed me and when it has the other person either is super boring or literally has NO interest in making any sort of effort so really it’s either a clutch game changer or a powerful sorting tool. win win!
