PRE FOTB. Sorry to those who jam, but before Ezra’s dad-core/dead head takeover they were a lot more fun to see (tumblr girls> frat bros). Sky ferreira opened too, which was very fun & indie-sleazy. Also I was lowkey 13 so take this for what it’s worth

Saw them play their album release show for Father of the Bride, in 2019. The show was at Webster Hall, and it started at 10 or 11 in the morning. There were bagels for breakfast and pizza later for lunch. They played three sets and it lasted until the mid afternoon. Nearly every song in their catalogue was performed, as well as a bunch of great covers. They opened with “Sunday Morning” by the Velvet Underground. It was definitely the longest show I’ve ever been to, and easily one of the best. The band was on fire, the crowd was locked in.

Ezra loves a song aimed at / about a specific and even "named" person, even if that person is a composite vs. a real human. The wistful vibes on this new album are redolent of "Hannah Hunt," another sorta-person in his song sack (I used to work with someone named Hannah Hunt and she loved the fact that I knew this song existed). Growing up is hard, yo. I also very much dig the 90s style sampled drum loop on this here track. Trip-hop redux, ha. The tour can't get to my town fast enough!

Deleted Twitter today and then was like hey why don’t I delete TikTok too. So far so good. kind of feels like I cut out junk food. Less brain rot and eye strain happening over here. (unfortunately instagram feels too real to part with I don’t know why. but maybe one day...)
