They say the l-theanine content in the matcha helps to reduce the cortisol spike from the caffeine and that it has a calming effect on the brain.
There’s nothing like a good cup of coffee don’t get me wrong, and like David Lynch said “even a bad cup of coffee is better than no coffee at all” but matcha in the morning gives me the same caffeine hit without that jittery buzz.
I think it’s something about the beans that hits differently.
I’ll typically take an l-theanine supplement along side my coffee if I choose to have it, but I find Matcha a lot smoother and green tea naturally contains this wonderful amino acid - so naturally, it’s my first choice whenever possible.
