I’ve since relapsed β€”but as a compulsive nail biter my entire life, I got my first manicure this past winter and for the first time in my life my nails looked presentable. the clear polish is nice like a worry stone for me, satisfying the same urge that biting didβ€”it’s a nice thing to do for yourself every 3 weeks or so I’ve discovered.

I can only afford to do it like once a year and I've already lost a gem on day three but IT FEELS GOOD WHILE IT LASTS πŸ’–

When the nail polish is drying and everything you touch is suddenly delicate and fragile. Turning the doorknob more carefully than you ever have before. Pinching the light switch between your thumb and your pointer to turn it on. Typing on your phone with tender precision. Checking on each nail like a newborn, making sure you didn't accidentally hurt one. It makes me kinda anxious but I’m starting to see it as therapeutic. Like a pausing point.
