There’s a million other reasons, but one of the big ones was what you said to me the first time we made love. You took off my glasses and you called me beautiful. I looked at you then, never having felt so vulnerable. Never having been called that, I couldn’t help but resist it. I called you a liar, but you insisted. I couldn’t believe there was a world in which that word and I coexisted.
