going to shows alone is ok!

I started going to shows alone about nine years ago and I’ve never regretted it! To set the scene, I mostly go to small shows with 20 to 150 people there. I am 50, have social anxiety, and almost always the oldest person in the crowd, sometimes decades older than anyone else. As soon as a band I love starts playing, none of that matters! It’s just joyful! If there are artists you love, you owe it to yourself and to them to go see and support them! *that said, I’m a man and all this could be much different for a woman! I think people will look out for you, though. I know I do (but from a distance - I really don’t want to look like an old creep!)

spending your hard earned money on geriatric concert tickets

so far this year, i’ve purchased tickets for Bobo Dylo (the unwashed phenomenon), Neil Young (and his immaculate Horse™️), and Richard Thompson. though these tickets were all more expensive than i would have liked them to be, the joy i get from seeing these legendary old fucks play their music is unmatched buy the ticket, go see your heroes. you may not be able to see them again p.s. - i know that buying expensive tickets isn’t an option for everyone, but i’m just trying to encourage you to go ahead and do it if it is even remotely within your budget. hell, be a pal, buy an extra ticket for your buddy who can’t

going to a concert alone

I’ve never actually done this…but I just bought a ticket to go see Robert Lester Folsom next month and I, at this point in time, have nobody to go with! Normally I would wait to buy a ticket until I had someone to go with me but I thought fuck it, I wanna go so I should be able to! And now I’m feeling very liberated so. Anyway, if this is good for me it’s good for u!
