If you ever wanted to know what it was like as someone Queer in Glasgow in the 80's, then this is the book for you. I finished it in one day. It's depressing, it's joyful, it's all the bits about falling in love for the first time, and then all the heartbreak life throws at you. The ending is *chefs kiss*, the middle is a range of every emotion. If you need a great book to hit you in the feels, then this is the one.

So I actually finished this book yesterday and I know I'm gonna be thinking about it for a long long time. it's a coming of age story about a young boy growing up in 1980s working-class Glasgow during the Thatcher administration but it's also just as much about his mother's struggle with alcohol addiction. It's a sad read but there's also a lot of hope in this book, and I found the ending really satisfying If you check it out, I recommend a silly read after, almost as a dessert if you will. i'm rereading one of the Clique books before I dive into another serious read and i'm having a good time!

A v kind (and v hot) human named Mandy gave me this book at a gay bar in Denver when I was but a smol 23-year-old baby queer trying to find my way. While it took me a few tries to finish due to how gut-wrenching it is, I absolutely inhaled it once I decided to commit. Leslie Feinberg writes with piercing clarity, humanity, and ferocity. Zie/She makes me so proud to be queer, and so, so, so immensely grateful to those in the community who came before me. Whether or not you identify on the LGBTQIA+ spectrum, this is truly a must-read.Β

I find myself mostly reading fiction written by gay men about being a gay man, so when I was given a copy by my girlfriend, I devoured it. The story itself is beautifully constructed and the way he writes made me feel a lot of things. It’s the kind of book that makes me want to write lyrics. I cried like a baby multiple times throughout and felt like something, somewhere had shifted in me when I was finished reading it.

In 2011 I was in a cab coming back to Brooklyn after a night out, Torn by Natalie Imbruglia was on the radio. It was one of those moments where you look out the window, see the city, and think, "Damn" I love it here. Regardless, the lyrics kicked in. From the backseat, I said "I love this song." The driver did too. He turned it up. We sang. He turned it up even louder. We sang even louder. If the vibe strikes, full send.
