My current process:
Personal size stovetop moka pot
Preheat mug w boiling water while coffee’s running
Heat milk in a mason jar for 30s in the microwave
Shake w a protein shake shaker ball to froth milk
Dump water and dry off mug
Pour coffee then top w milk
I should start out saying that I don’t care a lot about coffee even though I drink loads of it, or I have in my life (I’ve been trying to drink less). Elijah recently got a Moka Pot Brikka - the one that ‘cremes’ at the top… not the easiest to find without Amazon. My mom gave me a Bodum milk frother last year for Christmas that I never used… until now. We drink the caps out of the Bookworks x Cafe Nyleta cups, because it's one of the few matching mugs we have. It’s turned out to be a very fancy way to start the day and I recommend it to anyone who wants additional kitchen-ware.
this and some buttered toast get me going literally every morning.
1. Fill water in your moka pot until just below the safety valve
2. Fill the funnel with dark roast. La llave or bustelo are good.
3. Brew over medium heat
4. Fill a measuring cup with sugar. As many tablespoons of sugar as cups you’re gonna make.
5. Pour the first drops that come out of the top of the moka pot into the sugar. Let the coffee finish brewing.
6. Stir the shit outta the sugar and bit of coffee until it’s insanely foamy and smooth.
7. Pour the finished coffee into the foamy sugar and mix.
8. Serve in some little espresso cups
(If you want you can also exclude the sugar and just stir in some steamed milk)
the Best drink offered in the espresso world. Been drinking these for many years now and they always hit the spot. I like that I don’t have to commit to holding a hot or cold cup for the next hour+ (I’m a sipper).
a well tuned cortado can give you so much flavor without sweeteners, let you enjoy milk without drinking 13 ounces of it, and you usually get a cute, tiny cup that people comment on
Get a haircut, get rid of some clothes you haven’t worn in years, get a new houseplant, get in touch with the changing season, get grounded, get stoned, get in touch with some old friends, get some ice cream, get going
Friends you met out in the neighborhood at a bar or park or cafe or wherever a couple times and struck up a rapport with.
You don’t have eachother’s phone numbers, no social media info.
I have a couple friends like this and it’s been such a nice social change up. Always a pleasant surprise to bump into them out and about.
