Everyone capable should try running 20 miles at least once in their life, with or without music.. there are merits to either experience.. and unless youā€™re trying to win money.. in my opinion just disregard that arbitrary marathon shit, and indulge your account in some of those god given 5/10 finger multiples, iā€™m honestly even a bigger proponent of running by time 1 hr 2 hr etcā€¦running 20 miles in 2 hours feels nice itā€™s nothing crazy but everyone is different just get there somehow figure it out itā€™s easier than you think

Iā€™m not really a fan rn because marathon training has been hell but itā€™s a good time to ponder and reflect on anything (triathlons dont let you wear headphones so i go no music sometimes). Definitely try going on scenic routes and change it up every now and then, treadmills feel better for your legs but itā€™s such a boring run not having anything to look at. Tbh running isnt for everyone either, I have way more fun and look forward to a good swim or bike ride, and thats ok! Shoutout to everyone who enjoys running though, i wish i was you!

To me a long run is five miles. To some people thatā€™s so long they canā€™t believe it and to other people thatā€™s barely getting started. To me it was the perfect distance that my body wanted to move. when I started my run, I was really out of rhythm. I was going too fast, I couldnā€™t find the right tempo and then when I did I would approach a stop light where I had to pause and lose my stride. I was getting frustrated but then I just kept trying to remember all the times I had a really good tempo for my run! And eventually I leveled out and got there. My goal for March was to run 50 miles and I hit that pretty easily (Thank you to the weather gods). I think the best thing about running is listening to your body, appreciating what it gives you (which is different for everyone!), and seeing constant progress even if itā€™s small.

I run about 15 miles a week and about 13 of those miles are done while high. I recommend everyone give it a shot. P.S. I was a division one track and field athlete if that makes my advice any more credible.
