A wonderful experience and very enlightening. But also very isolating. The general public will either think you are weird or you’ll become their guru. In my experience, I’m always balancing between these two.

Recent trip to India kind of opened up the pent-up Catholic in me. Grew up going to a Born-again school so it was always a conversation about Catholicism vs. Evangelical Christianity. We were only three in my class that were Catholic so there were some subtle bullying happening when everyone else decided to be righteous and agreed that we needed to be saved. Realized religion is more than that conversation and enjoyed learning about Hinduism. Passed by Akshardham (glorious!!) and bought a few books about it. Went to a transcendental meditation class when I went back to the Philippines and glad I got to attend one. As one would a tourist, I also got trapped into buying a Singing Bowl from the airport. Went on a book run about Hinduism which my bookstores didn’t have stock on any but found a Cathecism book and a Buddhism book that should be enough to satiate my hunger. I have absolutely no idea where this will take me but I am absolutely enjoying this new sense of purpose.

But specifically that part during longer guided meditations where they’re taking you down and then they get quite deep down and then they’re like “just so you know we’re taking you down a little more and you’re about to lose the mind-body connection but don’t worry it will come back if you need it to” like Yes get this shit Off of me let my spirit free! and then you feel kinda like you’re submerged in a vat of custard dense air and then you’re just a thought lovely

I also had a spiritual/supernatural overhaul in 2021 and it changed my life. I heard whispers that woke me up in the night, things moved in the house, cats appeared in the same place in my living room, I had visions in mediations. I felt my dead mother and grandma too. I spoke to my dead grandad in a dream about the afterlife. For me I think the pandemic lockdowns allowed space to pay more attention, as well as a breakup from a bad relationship and a long period of chronic illness. I’m now solidly in a “I don’t really know what I believe and I’m happy to live in the mystery” space. Do you find that too?

I love symbolism !!! Like, yes I wanna read between the lines to some crazy backstory. The Origins mean everything. I want the signs to show themselves to me. I am ready.

I work in the fine art industry and I have done many roles - intern, photographer, gallery assistant, digital/photo lab assistant, art handler, registrar, and archivist. I’ve been in this game since I was 15 (s/o FotoFest International) - I am now 28. I’ve seen many types of situations unfold and have met lots of different personality types. You will meet narcissists, artists with insane egos, and some of the nicest, brilliant people. You will also meet nepo babies, people who don’t know what to do, and people who are really about it. Personally, I am an artist who wants to work with artists to help them succeed and archive their work. Tbh for me, I love someone who can have a crazy personality but is also grounded. Right now, I am an archivist at Gladstone Gallery and I am plotting my own art advisory. Seeking surrealists tbh.

I used to hold onto things for dear life until I realized that is self sabotage. Let things die (especially if they are failing) - you might be surprised by a rebirth or transformation.
