kind of a boring rec but if youre into film, metrograph screens really incredible movies. there's also ifc center (which does q&a's sometimes) and the angelika theaters but metrograph has the best selection imo
Film Forum is the OG but Metrograph is younger and hungrier, with a more diverse slate of films and an emphasis on rediscovered or neglected classics. Great atmosphere too, with a restaurant and bookstore. you can’t go wrong!
did you know john cage wrote over 300 compositions during his lifetime! check out “hymns and variations”, sung by the Latvian Radio Choir, which takes two hymns by Billings and transforms them through subtraction.
