Don’t go to the ER! If you need stitches, just go to urgent care and be like “I’m bleeding really bad, please”. They’ll see you quicker. The urgent care doctor might encourage you to do the stitches raw no anesthetic, but if you do it you’ll feel really brave and proud of yourself. I still need to go back to get my stitches out, so I’ll lyk in a few days if I can rec that as well…

Urgent care as a third place

puts you in proximity with folks maybe you would not be spending time with for whatever reason (class, neighborhood, language, age, etc). for a prolonged period of time where you also are set up to just observe everyone from a more empathetic lens bc we’re all seeking care.…petition to make celebrities/rich people experience a 4 hour wait at urgent care to get back in touch with humanity.

asking for bandaids

i loveeee going to the receptionist of an office building, to the bartender at a restaurant, the clerk at a clothing store, the assistant at the dentist, to ask them for a bandaid. i know they have them, and i want one. they always ask me what's wrong. sometimes they even ask me if i need help putting it on and i always say yes.
