“Don’t give up. I mean, try your best. You’ve done something. You’ve actually created something on the screen that’s there and you should be proud of that. It’s physically there now the emotional part will eventually materialize. Cough it up, cough it up gang, cough it up. It actually exists. Which is important. Because pictures are important. You’ve actually tried, you’ve tried very hard. And the trying shows. I want to thank you for trying. And I want to thank you for presenting this thing which evidently comes from deep inside your possible gut. And it has effected our soul in places we don’t realize right now it’s going to take time to seep in, seep out. And um it’s it’s uh it’s really quite an attempt. It’s been attempted and it’s, um, success is around the corner. Thank you. For that experience.”

Yes I know about the other one. Yes I’ve seen it and yes it’s better. For some reason though this movie moved me. I don’t know anything about Bob Dylan. Never been a fan (don’t like his voice) but what I appreciated about the film is the way they showed him constantly working. I haven’t written anything in months. I’ve pushed it off, saying to myself ”what’s the point, nobody wants this, nobody needs this”. Seeing him push ahead and not be bogged down by what people wanted from him was inspiring as hell to me. So many people tried to box him in and keep him from experimenting with his art, which to me is the death of an artist. We’re meant to try. That’s all just try. Even if it will be a complete failure and laughed at, the act of trying is what makes art beautiful. I thought it was an ok movie. But seeing someone trying really hit me and me me realize that I need to make shit for me. That’s what Bob did.

a really weird movie. one of those movies where you’re thinking “this movie is fucking weird” while watching, but you’re left with a good feeling when it’s over. what i took from it, considering myself a songwriter, is that you can‘t project onto artists or strive to be like them. everyone’s got their own struggle, sometimes it’s secret. i love domhnal gleeson too, so that makes it even better.

I love Paul Rudd and Tim Robinson is really a comedy genius so when I heard about this movie I was excited. I saw it yesterday with maybe 15 people, scattered in a small theater late in the afternoon in a multiplex packed with people there to see Lilo and Stitch and Karate Kid. It was such a good movie, fans of "I Think You Should Leave" will enjoy the uncomfortable awkwardness of it. It was dark at times, but it had some really funny parts, some of the story was surrealist at times which I enjoyed, there were some really visually interesting shots and the music/soundtrack was good. When it was over, me and my girlfriend were discussing what we just watched and it made me think about trying to make friends as an older person and how hard it is to try and seem cool or interesting to someone else that you are just getting to know. We talked about the mistakes of our youth and how we are all awkward and lack self awareness at times. Sometimes we are just performing, putting an exaggerated version our "best self" on display in hopes of companionship, acceptance, love, to feel like being part of a tribe or family, when we should be more humble and just let it come out organically. We should show our true self in the beginning, not feeling embarrassed or feel shame about our passions, they are what make us who we are. And if people don't like it, or judge you, they are not for you, and that is ok. Everyone is not for everybody. Be true to yourself and you will find your people, even if it takes longer than you want it to. Anyway, the movie was good, like what I said above, it might not be for everyone, but give it a chance and you might like it. Bye

Epic movie but a perfect trailer on its own that I watch frequently. An art in itself!

The GOAT. Dress it up, up up, down, or down down. He looks incredible in every photo (and he's in on the joke when it's funny and he's in the biggest RRL jeans in history).
