Finally a media product honest about the psychosexual trauma and deranged generational entitlement of millennials. The Fielder-Safdie meetup bridges the confounding cinƩma vƩritƩ of the former with the disconcerting aesthetic of the latter. To be sure, I'd call this a "drama;" but, as is the case with the auteurs here, the blurring of "reality" with "fiction" ends up presenting a truth larger than the sum of its parts. Well-meaning liberals gentrify the frontier, while excusing themselves from the shitty and destructive behavior that they knowingly partake in. Emma Stone is truly un-believable, an uncanny powerhouse. There's no boundary here, in the Derridian sense: you are at fault as you watch, especially when Nathan shows us his tiny, tiny, tiny little dick. "It's not a big deal and I'm not insecure about it."

With my visiting older relative because I found out sheās Chalamet-pilled after taking her to see A Complete Unknown (do not really recommend but it did make me inexplicably horny despite being such a bland movie but maybe it was the guest-hosting-induced involuntary celibacy) and she is culturally impoverished so I had to get something of some substance in. On New Yearās Eve she made us watch Holidate despite the fact that she had already seen it and she told us the entire plot during the first ten minutes then proceeded to explain everything that was about to happen throughout the movie. Luckily there wasnāt a lot to spoil there and the viewing experience could not have been worse to begin with. Have yet to watch Babygirl which is unjust but I will remediate this. Apologies for the stream-of-consciousness tangent Iām still processing

At first I was thinking, "This playlist is making me feel stupid."
But then I simply stopped thinking.
The smooth-brained wonder of hearing "Moves Like Jagger" for the *nth time - music as anesthetic. I hear this song. I feel nothing. "Passionfruit," literally three times in a row. There's nothing left to feel, they squeezed all the feeling out.
No more thought.
