Since I was young, I’ve been obsessed with the airport. Over the past couple years, I’ve been fortunate enough to be able to see a lot more airports due to shows and stuff. I’m currently working on a mental tier list of airports that I’ve been to in the United States. LaGuardia in NYC is kinda up there right now; I love the silly water feature. I also think the Salt Lake City airport is gorgeous, even if the way they handle transferring between concourses is kinda inconvenient.I flew in and out of Seattle for a show recently and I was super impressed by it. They seemed to have recently renovated the central terminal, so now there’s this super open food court. I went to one of the new restaurants there and got lobster mac and cheese (definitely a risk; don’t get seafood at the airport). I’m not proud of how much I spent on it, but it was realllyyyy good. They’ve also got a really reliable tram for transfer between gates. SEA-TAC: A tier.

I love airports because they bring two of my favorite things together under one roof: people watching and “liminal spaces.” The lounge access is also a plus, though they really do be letting anyone in these days.

you save money, it’s not that bad / kinda nice, and it’s so satisfying once you’re there and get a little airport treat

Honestly, I love the airport. You’re right about it being a lawless place, there are very few places where you’ll find people drinking beer and cocktails at 9am unjudged and the airport is definitely one of them. I would say it’s one of my favorite people watching places, and I can’t help myself from doing things like noticing book covers and looking up the synopsis of what someone is reading lol.

I’ve got a big list of road trip movies that I’m tryna knock out. There’s a lot of titular road trip movies I haven’t seen: National Lampoon, Almost Famous, Fear and Loathing, etc. I realized though that if the definition of a road trip movie expands to being about getting from point A to point B, then so many more movies can fit under that. Like it’s not just Thelma and Louise, but like Mad Max: Fury Road, or Brüno. The SpongeBob Movie. I just watched Planes, Trains, and Automobiles for the first time; that might be objectively the best one.Another related thing I’m obsessed with at the moment: fonts designated for road signage. Highway Gothic in particular is incredible. I’m not crazy about the other font, Clearview, though; a bit too round for me. Those are both the American fonts, though. I just went to Europe for the first time recently, and Transport — the font used for most UK/EU signage — blows both of these out of the water.

The first music I remember listening to was the trifecta of Madonna, Britney Spears, and Justin Timberlake. I remember being obsessed with all three of ‘em when I was like five years old or something. I’m on a Justin Timberlake kick right now because I had this realization while looking at the tracklist and song lengths for FutureSex/LoveSounds that the first music I was sentient for was kinda weird. That album is weird, like just stare at the tracklist for a second. Like “Medley: Let Me Talk to You / My Love (feat. T.I.)”? “LoveStoned / I Think She Knows (Interlude)”? What was he thinking? He’s also just this default guy, like you’d spawn in as Justin Timberlake. And he’s goofy. I think the reason FutureSex is so good is ‘cause it was just him and Timbaland, like, beatboxing at each other and being like, “Yoooo, that’s hard, put it in.”

This might just be ‘cause of the Justin Timberlake diet, to be honest. Me and my friend Gabby Start were hanging out last week and I think we had run out of things to talk about. We just started freestyling, but like singing as if we were members of a boyband trying to serenade the same girl.Like “Girl, just give me a cha-ance / May I have this da-ance?”
