This is probably the most old lady thing I'll ever do, but here I am recommending dried fruit. You know when you're used to the grocery store version of something, and then you have an excellent version, and it's just like... a completely different thing? That happened to me when I first bought a nice bottle of olive oil. And also when I ordered from Apricot King. I love dried apricots on my oatmeal, and now I'm spoiled beyond return. I just turn my nose up at those dumb bags of stupid apricots at the grocery and keep on walkin.

Peaches, plums, nectarines, cherries, etc. It’s mind blowing that something so nice can be naturally occurring Just beautiful fruits (look at these plums) and just so delicious even when they’re not technically in season I could (and do) eat five peaches a day Also peach cobbler! Haven’t heard of it but need to try plum cobbler I feel like that’d be crazy

As someone who loves dried fruit and Japanese candies, this was a welcome surprise when I bought it on a whim at the local Nijiya Market in Little Tokyo. I’ve been a fan of everything from Hi-Chews to matcha Kit-Kats but candies have done quite a bit of damage to my teeth over the years. I’ve switched over to dried mango, coconut, and other fruit from TJs, but couldn’t resist this candied Yuzu when I came across it. Yuzu has such a vibrant citrus flavor that when candied, lends some sweetness to an otherwise bitter rind, resulting in a beautiful depth and zestful flavor. The small pieces and relatively simple ingredients make it feel at least a little healthier than other candies too.

For too long I have been ignorant to the joy of casually and spontaneously perusing a grocery store. Finally, I enter with no list in hand. No agenda. No stress about filling my weekly nutritional quotas. Instead I became a woman led only by curiosity and intuition (perhaps my highest state). Behold the wonders of the produce aisle. God lives in the produce aisle. Then the nectarine chose me and I chose the nectarine. We were perfectly complete in one another's company. I left with a bill of exactly 1 dollar and became one nectarine richer. Perfect.

I've never been a drinker... until motherhood. Now at the end of the day I don't mind something to take the edge off.  Not to mention the slog of winter is upon us, and all I want is to think of the warm weather - enter the Aperol Spritz. It's the perfect end-of-day drink for me because it's not too strong (I'm breastfeeding). But I can't get through a whole bottle of prosecco before it goes flat, so I've been getting 4 packs of cans of prosecco. Did everyone else know this trick already?! It feels like a stroke of genius to this sleep deprived gal.

I don't know how I stumbled on Katie Lee Biegel's IG, explore page probably? But her IGTV channel is exactly the amount of effort I want to be putting in to my cooking these days. I recently became a mom, and so did she, so I probably am feeling extra kindred. But do me a favor, go watch and make yourself a Backpack Bagel! I've been having them multiple times a week.

So I've started rewatching this as one of the several archival series I've revisited in quarantimes. Season 1 is perfect television, and season 2 goes completely off the rails.  At first I was pissed, but then I did some light googling and found out there had been a writer's strike for season 2, and now I'm watching with a sick intrigue as the plot lines get more and more convoluted. It's truly insane, and I'm here for it.
