For Now,, oof transition into this is soo seamless,, such a good closer,, lil ribbon on it!! this track is so PACKED fuckk—what a round up,, this album is such a snapshot of shoka’s early 20s,, such an incredible debut,, theres a bar at the beginning of the album where he raps about the way he feels about his discography that he‘s not proud of, but the progression between his records is so obvious which brings me to the point that this album hopefully dispels those doubts not about necessarily about those records but his position in his career,, which i feel was the intention, so proud of him—so much runway ahead but this is such a good standard to set! cant wait to see what he does next !!
HOW TO LIVEEE love the proximity of this to skin—fave seft of the album,, so much thats good about this song,, that kendrick vocal reference with that bridge towards the end!! fuuck—the instrumental sections are so well chosen,, the arrangement on this is insane
Moodz feels like a through line from the first half of the record, braggadocio raps but with a lot more of a melodic approach vocally—deeply personal in betweens—then SKIN fuuuuckk this feels like such a dive into the deep end,, might be a biased opinion bcs ik him personally but i felt every bit of this song :// the flute/pad line in the back of this song is so special

feels like a b side to this record,, Never Miss a Step reminds me sm of al rap i used to love when i was 15/16—like TPAB, chicago rap scene 2014-2016 era,, the harmonies in the back remind me alot of alex wiley’s village party stuff.
oof then Cashrule$,, bigg nod to the renaissance of hip hop “cream get the money“,, ”cash rules everything around me” bridged by him pouuurrin—i tend to forget how expressive rap music can be like theres soo much of himself in this record,, this record almost feels like an open journal accompanied by these fkn awesome violin sections and like at the end of still kicking—then the transition of an early fave Two Step! the intro to this tune makes so much more sense when you listen the the album in order
by the time soup comes on,, it feels so peak album and we’re only on the second track,, pre-singles are soo crazy bcs by the time you hear the whole album they already feel like classics?! lol this song is such a good choice for a pre-single,, bigg west coast vibes on production, REAL RAP MUSIC here,, sonically this record feels like a display of hip hop culture and cadence,, done really well in a way that is so true to shoka and songs like soup feel like a classic braggadocio rap laced w struggle of becoming, towards the end the song goes into a slower pace where shoka pours tf out in the span of a minute and the ends it with an ironic b-line?? lol this nigga funny
ok intro! really nice slow groove ease in into the album,, punchy introduction of the album‘s themes—the nod at the pressures young people feel to be ‘politically correct’ or “twitter might might take ya life, keep it to myself till i get my money right”,, hardd bar,, clearly written in the renaissance of the idea of ‘getting cancelled’ lol,, the “money right” obvs referring to your ye’s who do n say whatever they want with little to no long term consequences. the hoook is such a mantra,, “keep dancing,, keep grooving,, keep moving”—literally captured the feeling a lot of young people in joburg feel.
fuckkk, the production on this is unbelievable,, moo is a beast,, his discog speaks for itself.
