An oldie but a goodie. Techno-y madness for the first few songs that ramps up before dropping off into ambient, then gets crazier and scarier and more fun. six impala are masters at making shit fit together, and out of the sets they made for their online tour for their 2020 album WFLYTD, it's really tough to pick between this, Skyward, Lavapalooza, or Loner Online. They're all ridiculously creatively good.

Difficult though it may be for the old vanguard to accept, I believe most if not all vital innovation in the jam band format is coming from the industrial electronic musical sector. Autechre are a great example of one such band who - late in their careers - have released dozens of hours of improvisatory and fresh takes on old material performed live and categorized by the year and city in which the performances took place.
These recordings are then - of course - fawned over and endlessly analyzed by obsessive devotees and electro-hippie freaks who collect, distribute, and bootleg them along with whatever other unreleased or previously unknown material they can independently gather.
It is, as ever, a brave new world, and change is confusing, but if you listen with an open mind you’ll surely find yourself entranced by Autechre’s Psycho-Electronic Experimentations …. Peace and Love✌️

duhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. if u don't listen you're missing out! It's a great mix genres including experimental hip hop, folktronica, and art pop. I've been following Quadeca's musical journey since 2019 and this is probably his best work yet!

Callie Nixon's debut album as flatroom is all it's cracked up to be and more. Not just content to be behind the boards as a talented producer with roots in the fledgling Dariacore scene, she's also an immensely affecting composer and singer-songwriter with influences from noughties-era country and folk. On I Don't Even Need, these two influences combine like headstrong bucks, relaxed and warm acoustic guitar-driven folk giving way to a rushing, soaring burst of happy hardcore arpeggios and energy. It's hands down the best song on the album, and it's really fighting for that spot between the album version of Blood sugar and the cover of When the Stars Go Blue.

Getting a lot more into Spanish-language music as of recent—from Spain, France, Chile, Mexico, Argentina, and in the case of Esteman, Colombia. This piece, the second off his 2021 album Si Volviera A Nacer, features some beautiful vocals from Mexico's Daniela Spalla, and a melody that is eerily reminiscent (to me, anyway) of Centuries by Fall Out Boy. A very nocturnal song that I've been using as a soundtrack to my nightly drive home from work this past month.

I've just had "music to do evil things to" on the mind as of recent. This one's in a more EDM vein, peddling a little hardstyle, a little festival trap, a little techno... it's fun as hell.
