I recently discovered that there’s a Japanese word for the way sunlight makes its way through trees and I haven’t stopped noticing it since then :)

fun fact: the same word can also be used to describe missing someone (the trees are close to each other, but not touching) - that’s why in francis forever by mitski she has the lyric “i look up at the gaps of sunlight / i miss you more than anything” !

just look at the canopy of this one!? it’s shaped almost like a… leaf! I always feel inexplicable unbridled joy at the sight of trees. they are so so beautiful.
