i’ve loved her photography for years. i met her at the exhibit she was having at sade in L.A. and she was so sweet. i remember finding her during the online girlblogger era of 2020-2022. if you remember that era…ur a real one. i was gonna get her photography book as a birthday present for myself but it sold out unfortunately💔 her photos always have this aching tenderness to them that i connect with and feel so much. go check her stuff out, you seriously won’t regret it.

She’sa photographer named Sinziana Velicescu. I first saw her about nine years ago on tumblr and have followed her since. she captures the feeling of Southern California in a unique and true-to-life way. And her work has a sense of humor to it that gives it warmth and life even though her compositions are precise.
Also for photography, check out The Heidies and Brooke Holm.

i’ve been humming this song and thinking about it all day for some reason. it’s about her traveling the world, going to all these different countries, but still missing home. while joni isn’t a native californian (she’s canadian) i hear her love and longing for it in this song. her voice is just so delicate yet so powerful at the same and when she hits those runs with the high notes it tickles my brain. i don’t know how she does it man. the lyrics are great as well too, one of the best songwriters to ever live.
this song makes me love my home even more than i already do. even when i lived in texas for a few years i would wish a tornado would come and tear down the trailer park i lived in during tornado season in the summer, literally kneeling on the ground inside of the neighborhood shelter with my palms together, eyes closed, praying to god to let mother nature do its thing so i could go back home to california.
obviously, joni and i were in 2 very different situations…

this movie is amazing. i love how they kept the original dialogue of the play and used it in the movies but still modernized the setting and characters. a lot of movies make romeo and juliet bland and boring but this one is vibrant, with fun wardrobes, religious iconography everywhere, and this movie feels so saturated. leonardo dicaprio is charming as always in this movie and he plays an amazing romeo to pair with precious juliet. i absolutely love the person who plays mercutio, they did an AMAZING job.
the problem with all the other romeo and juliet movies is that they always take themselves too seriously but you have to remember, this was meant for stage theatre and shakespeare was a playwright who loved to be humorous. all of that gets lost in every single other romeo and juliet movie except this one. it’s so fun, i highly recommend.
CAUTION: tears might be shed.
