-chopped pillows are fugly. don't chop them thangs -too matchy matchy is boring. an entire living room with all matching furniture tells me you don't know what looks good so you let a catalog tell you -nothing wrong with white walls and bland floors, it's what you do with the rest that matters -you should do literally whatever you need to do with your furniture to make it work for your space and your needs, who gaf about anything else this is YOUR house -modern farmhouse is fugly i'm sorry. sorry mom. -hgtv is so boring to watch bc pretty much every designer has the exact same style. if they got some people in there with some interesting, out of the ordinary styles, it would be more fun -people bitch about minimalism but smooth clean lines are so pleasing to the eye. meanwhile too much going on in a room can just get so overwhelming. it's not for everybody but there's nothing inherently ugly about minimalism, brutalism etc. -it's way cooler if your house looks full of stuff you've collected with purpose over time rather than random stupid shit you'd find sitting out for "decor" at a furniture store. why tf do you have a giant wooden carved chain on your coffee table instead of a book or something you bought one time because you thought it was cool. or like the bowls full of just giant spheres like what is this it's so boring -i don't think all your stuff needs to be hidden away in drawers and stuff i don't mind seeing your books and movies and dvds and shoes etc. stored where people can see them. youre a human being and you have stuff that's fine i think people's stuff can often be part of the decor -if cheap furniture looks good and functions as it's intended, it's fine don't worry about it -people are too scared of color

So much that goes into this… consider the colors outside that you can see through the windows, the natural colors of your local environment, any particular seasonal colors you find yourself gravitating towards (I love autumnal tones)! And don’t forget about paint finish and textural application techniques 😍
If you live in a particularly sunny/warm or gloomy/rainy environment and want to counteract or enhance those pick colors accordingly. I would also suggest looking into color psychology like if you’re depressed a lot of the time and would like to feel uplifted use bright sunny colors but if you often feel anxious and want to feel more sedated choose something less mentally stimulating.
Pick colors that would look good with the furniture and art you have or want to have… Curtains and rugs can be a beautiful way to add large swaths of color and texture too…. I love light filtered through a pink orange or golden curtain! And you cannot go wrong with deep rich jewel toned walls in different colors for every room if you want something impactful imo.
I’m sick in the head so I always love a good crisp white wall and adding color everywhere else. The walls in my rental house (I am NOT going to paint) are mostly varying shades of blue and gray which I thought I would hate but surprisingly I love them and find them soothing. I have a little sunroom with pale green walls that looks out into a lush verdant backyard with gorgeous trees and I love that combination!
GO CRAZY WITH FREE PAINT CHIPS tape them all up on the walls and see what clicks for you!!

Lately I'm loving humble, homey vibes. Lots of pictures of small but thoughtfully designed kitchens with warm maple cabinets and yellow window curtains. Lots of crochet and hand-knit blankets and tapestries. Green couches and lots of plants. Gallery walls filling every inch with art and trinkets. Lots of cabins and A-frames. Lots of old bathrooms with fun colorful tiles. Overall vibes are that we're working with what we have and making it both look beautiful and feel like a hug.

my advice would be - get the big furniture pieces first, because in the end they dictate the general vibe and design of your space, and compliment them with smaller pieces like lamps rugs etc. also, try to think ahead a bit and DONT buy trendy furniture. don’t go overboard with color because you WILL get tired of it. remember, people are most comfortable in spaces and colors resembling nature the most. ahhhh generally take it slow? i understand the excitement about furnishing your space but finding your style take a lot of time. and if you have the resources try to invest in good quality furniture!

no more beating dead horses when it comes to movies, tv shows, etc. the movie doesn't need a sequel. the show doesn't need to go on for 27 seasons. we need more stories that are written with an ending in mind from the beginning.

best thing you can do for yourself is become extremely comfortable with being alone and doing stuff by yourself. at a young age i forced myself to get comfortable with that and now it's my default state-- i LOVE doing stuff by myself. my coworker is a person who literally cannot go places by herself and i have been trying to help her get more comfortable doing things solo because it's very freeing. everyone should be happy to go do stuff by themselves, it's lovely!
