(I'm only allowed to attach 5 images so if your interested in seeing more of any let me know!) 1. VOGUE ITALIA JULY 2005 Gifted to me by my secret admirer ;). A birthday gift of the Vogue which was published in my birth month and year. Linda Evangelista is the cover star and it's titled "Makeover Madness". Considering I spent hours as a child rewinding the makeover scenes in movies (it was my fav part) I think the concept gels with me well.
2. ATLANTIS BRASILIEN PICTURE BOOK Gifted to my by my mother who had it gifted to her by some mysterious source in 1974. Fulvio Roiter's work is out of this world. It's a very special book, thats all i can say. 3. MY ENTIRE BLOOD ORANGE VINYL COLLECTION Discogs has been good to me since 2017. It was quite the feat but I got there.
4. EVERY PROGRAM FROM EVERY SPURS GAME I'VE BEEN TO Starting from 28 November 2012 where we won 3-1 at home against West Ham to 19 December 2024 where we won 4-3 at home against United.

Specifically for reference/nonfiction books and especially for gifts. I like to get fiction from the regular library and maybe purchase a copy if I really love it and want to loan it out. The huge crowded warehouse of a library book sale gets overwhelming so I stick to nonfiction and reference to make it easier on myself.
Making Comics by Scott McCloud (big recommendation if you love the comic arts and want to get into it critically/creatively in a more structured manner) for the graphic novel I’ll start and finish when I’m 80. My Inventions by Nikola Tesla for my brother. Will be used in the meantime for me to hopefully practice my Serbo-Croation. Of course it’s in Croatian, despite being in collaboration with the Nikola Tesla museum in Belgrade, but that’s just the way of the Balkans and really just makes it easier for me as it is in the Latinic and not Cyrillic. Turn of the Century Tile designs Lovely full color images of exactly what it says on the tin. To be used for embroidery inspiration and patterns for other 2D works and furniture printing. When I am 80, I will have a home and use some of these to make my own hand painted tiles in my bathroom and kitchen. Byzantine Costume Paper Dolls Debating on whether to keep this or give it to my mother, keep it, or donate it to Sunday school. It is very funny and cute to see Empress Theodora serving so much with a full contour in the paper doll version instead of the austerity and grace of an icon, but the medium holds the message after all.
Golden Age of Posters for my mother to enjoy and maybe frame a couple. It includes a print of a poster that I saw being conserved with eraser crumbs being gently dragged across the surface. I got her a magnet of that poster and I know she will be excited as soon as she sees it in the book.

I've been scrolling through my camera roll at photos taken this time last year. This is from a vacation, we were staying at a place with wonky heating during the midst of winter and I'd picked up this bootleg DVD at a church affiliated op shop for $1. I always check inside secondhand CDs, cassettes, VHS, DVDs - but I didn't that day. Perhaps it was fate. Imagine my surprise and the shocked guffaw I faw'd when I cracked open what I thought would be Helen Mirren’s Oscar winning performance, formatted onto a disc of dubious video and audio quality, to put on for my technologically illiterate Queen Elizabeth II respecting mum.
Now I can’t help but reimagine all these scenarios of how it got swapped out - *who* originally purchased the Hustler newsletter or issue that this DVD was included in, how many moons ago, how many hands of connoisseurs of adult entertainment has this relic touched, what was that fabled hardcopy print and which lovely lady with the gals on display was on the cover? Was the DVD loose or was it packaged in a disc cover that someone spent time and graphic design passion making?
Was this the result of a prospective Monarchist’s post nut clarity, a church goer or minister's clandestine trade off that was forgotten, an accidental yet good faith household donation to charity by another that has some poor soul haunted by being discovered still yet?
Or even picturing the look on someone’s face, the vibe, of some older school porno appreciatin' bloke ready to attend a circlejerk sesh with the bros opening up a used Hustler DVD sleeve that was brought along as a tribute, and like me, did not check its contents on a destined day, as a bootleg of The Queen (2006) is found instead.

sleeping naked with crisp new sheets and a fluffy duvet. added points if you didnt tie your hair up. the post sleep only wearing glasses, drinking black coffee and doing things on your laptop hits 10 times harder. or maybe a crossword / sudoku / reading your horoscope from yesterdays news paper. very chic.

read all the books on your shelf before you buy a new one. listen to all your cds and records before you buy a new one. wear your shoes into the ground until you buy a new pair. burn all your candles before you buy a new one. let your lucky pen run dry before you buy a new one. let holes wear in your jeans before you buy a new pair. create oportunity with the things that are already in your possession. appreciate the moons that orbit around your day to day and give them attention. make impressions in them, write on them, bend them, savour them. and when your lost, look to these moons orbit and find yourself in the centre.
