this is one of my favorite coming of age movies. has elle fanning in it and i always love anything with her in it. i feel like this movie should get more recognition than it does. super good soundtrack too, including bad brains and the talking heads.
i was 16 when i first saw this movie and i related to the character of abbie so much that i dyed my hair red for the rest of my teenage years. the casablanca references, the costume design, how bright everything looks, the music! everything about this movie i adore
itโs a recommendation from a film school best friend, and I feel like this film not only dissects womanhood, but also shows how a gay boy like me, being surrounded by women, felt so comfortable and warm :)
