i recommend melody lanes or whitestone in queens for a real league vibe full of characters - guys with one arm, old dudes who lightly toss it and strike every time, and randomly super diverse teams. you'll see a young metal guy with long hair, a 60 year old chinese man, an overweight mexican dude, and a stoic nerdy white dude, all there for the same reason - have a few beers and bowl some big strikes. bowling brings people together!

Every Monday, me and a bunch of other Brooklyn degenerates congregate at The Gutter in Williamsburg to destroy some pins and drain some longnecks. I've been bowling at the Gutter for eight years now and most seasons we lost miserably, but now we're sort of good. Joining the league was a great way to meet people and I always look forward to league night, especially during tough or lonely periods. Plus, just about everyone is charmed when you tell them you're in a league. I look like I work for IBM in the 90s in this pic but here I am with my high score (181).

Bowling is IN for 2023. Mad many movies from 1970 - 1990 seem to include a scene with some cool characters sharing a pitcher of ice cold beer, ripping cigs inside, and occasionally throwing a ball down the lane. Unfortunately most bowling alleys these days are drenched in neon and insist on serving me an entire meal while I play. I yearn for the simple days of charming, warmly lit, no bullshit, bowling alleys being embedded in American Culture. Don’t even get me started on String Setters…

tomorrow PI.FYI launches to the public
this project is the result of thousands of hours spent coding everything from scratch after I got laid off six months ago
no thiel-bucks or weirdo outsider money, just a pure desire to make something fun and true to Perfectly Imperfect’s day one goal of helping people find new things from real human beings, not algorithms or AI
a pure labor of love that I’ve been quietly plotting for two years and it’s completely self-funded from my (rapidly) dwindling savings account
so thank you for coming along for this weird ride 🫶 let's see where it goes
